A simple soup that’s good for your health and soul
Boy George, the Culture Club lead singer is a raw foodist. He has gone on record both literally and in this instance to attribute his new, improved and youthful look to his raw vegan lifestyle. He acknowledges that his glowing skin and ‘better than ever’ look is all down to his raw diet.
The highlight of a raw ‘cooking’ is its simplicity-both in terms of techniques applied and ingredients used. Raw cooking entails the use of fresh produce and minimal cooking techniques to make nutritious dishes that keep you satiated and healthy. A plant-based diet ensures that the nutrients present in the ingredients remain intact and are not lost in the process of cooking.
A raw vegan diet is not just a fad, in fact vegetarianism and veganism is increasing the world over and it’s here to stay. Numerous people, celebrities included, have opted for a plant-based diet not only due to the inherent benefits it presents to their health but also because of fundamental premise of this diet of ‘live and let live’.

Ingredients you’ll need for this recipe:
Boy George’s Raw Soup
1 cup vegetable stock
1 stick of celery, chopped (reserve a small amount to garnish)
½ small avocado
1 thumbnail-sized piece of fresh ginger
¼ tsp. sea salt
½ Granny Smith apple (reserve a small amount to garnish)
½ tsp. apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp. toasted pumpkin seeds
A few peppercorns
Drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, for serving
1. Blend all the ingredients, except the pumpkin seeds, together in a food processor.
2. Cover and chill for half an hour in the fridge.
3. Serve garnished with finely chopped celery and apple, a scattering of toasted pumpkin seeds and a little drizzle of olive oil.
